Lanre Tunji-Ajayi is a global patient advocate sickle cell disease and other inherited blood disorders with decades of experience in patient engagement and program development. She co-founded the Global Alliance of Sickle Cell Disease Organizations (GASCDO) and the Global Action Network for Sickle Cell & Other Inherited Blood Disorders (GANSID). She was also a past chair of the Network for Red Blood Disorders (NRBDO) and co-founder of the Ontario Hemoglobinopathy Patient Association (OHPA). As the Co-founder of SCAGO and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Canada (SCDAC), she has significantly raised the visibility of sickle cell disease in Canada. Her efforts include advocating for newborn screening across the country, getting World Sickle Cell Day enacted at the National and Provincial levels, and influencing health policies to improve health outcomes of people with sickle cell disease. She has been recognized for her leadership with several prestigious awards.
