About The Program

The SCAGO Youth Empowerment Program is an initiative funded by the Employment and Social Development Canada's Canada Service Corps Microgrant Program. It is purposefully designed to equip young people connected to sickle cell disease with the skills, knowledge, and resources to become effective advocates and leaders in their communities.

This program combines virtual and in-person interactions to provide a flexible and comprehensive experience for participants across Ontario.

Who Can Apply?

Youth with or affected by sickle cell disease

This includes individuals who have been diagnosed with sickle cell disease or those who have family members with the condition.

Advocates for individuals with sickle cell disease

Even if you don't have sickle cell disease yourself, your passion for advocacy can make a significant difference.

Ages 15-30, living in Ontario

The program is specifically designed for youth and young adults residing in Ontario.

What's In It For You?

A micro-grant of up to $5,000

Participants will receive financial support to implement innovative projects that address challenges in the sickle cell community.

Develop leadership and project management skills

Through structured workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experience, you'll gain valuable skills.

Hybrid program with virtual and in-person interactions
