Fitz-Ann has always had a passion for helping those around her. She currently works in the field of esthetics and spa management which provides her with the platform to continue to help in an inspiring way.
Opening her business (Divine Beauty Oasis) in 2018 was initially a terrifying journey as it was the biggest risk she has had to take. It has also provided her with some of the greatest life lessons and shaped Fitz-Ann in a new and exciting way.
Running a business while having sickle cell disease (SCD) may be a lot for many people but Fitz-Ann faced the challenge head-on. Having a business and living with sickle cell wasn’t challenging enough, so Fitz-Ann decided to go back to school to become a registered massage therapist. She has completed school and has attained her massage therapy license. With her newfound status, she wants to help the Sickle cell community relieve their pains. Her determination and resilience stemmed from the strength provided by dealing with SCD.
Diagnosed at five months old, SCD for everyone around her posed an issue, but Fitz-Ann learnt that it was an obstacle to overcome.
Fitz-Ann has been a part of various committees of SCAGO such as the education committee and PAAC and has always been an advocate for not only herself but for every sickle cell warrior out there. As the new chairperson, she will continue the work that she has done in advocating.
