Sickle Cell Advocate and Caregiver, Tanya Elese, is a dedicated Christian, wife, and mother of three wonderful children. She is a Canadian, of Congolese origin from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Professionally, she excels as a Human Resources and Project Management Professional with the Library of Parliament, and holds a Master’s in Project Management. Tanya passionately serves the sickle cell disease community through various hats at SCAGO, including Southeastern Ontario Region Coordination, Advocacy via the Patient Advisory and Advocacy Council, and French translation. She is also part of the Parents and Patients Advisory Council for SCD at CHEO and serves a liaison between Ottawa’s Community Partners and SCAGO. Always ready to support awareness initiatives, especially those benefiting Women, Children, and the Black Community, Tanya lives by the motto: Awareness is key!
