Windsor-Essex-Chapter Lead & Patient Wellbeing Coordinator
Amal is SCAGO's Patient Wellbeing Coordinator and Project Lead for the Windsor-Essex region. She is a Registered Social Worker who holds both a Master of Social Work and an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Windsor. She brings a strong academic foundation, including a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Translation, alongside a background in teaching —combined with extensive frontline experience across community mental health, settlement, and social service settings in Canada and abroad.
With over five years of dedicated experience supporting vulnerable populations, Amal has worked extensively with refugees, newcomers, youth, children, families, and trauma survivors. Grounded in a passion for mental health, she has offered supportive counselling for individuals navigating anxiety, stress, and depression. Throughout her career, she has collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals and lawyers to deliver case management, advocacy, and direct connection to essential community resources.
Through this practice, she has witnessed firsthand how tailored support and strong advocacy directly enhance her clients' overall quality of life, well-being, and psychosocial outcomes.
Amal deeply believes that every person deserves to live with dignity, respect, independence, and access to their needs. She is dedicated to removing systemic obstacles to health and social care, elevating client voices, and strengthening well-being across the communities she serves
